We are seeking a Senior Accessibility Engineer (Level IV) to support a Department of Defense (DoD/DoW) program focused on building AI-enabled, accessible digital solutions using AWS-native services. This role blends AI/ML engineering, accessibility compliance (Section 508), and modern cloud development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and develop accessible AI-powered applications leveraging Amazon Bedrock and AWS AI/ML services
- Ensure compliance with Section 508, WCAG 2.1/2.2 accessibility standards
- Build and maintain Python-based microservices and APIs supporting AI/ML workflows
- Integrate LLMs (via Bedrock) into user-facing applications with accessibility-first design
- Conduct accessibility audits, testing, and remediation across web applications
- Collaborate with UX/UI, product, and DevSecOps teams
- Implement automated accessibility testing pipelines
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
- 8–12 years of experience in software engineering or accessibility engineering
- Hands-on experience with AWS native services (Lambda, API Gateway, S3, DynamoDB, IAM), Amazon Bedrock (prompt engineering, model integration), and Python development
- Deep knowledge of Section 508 compliance, WCAG standards, and accessibility testing tools (e.g., Axe, Wave)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with AI/ML accessibility use cases (e.g., automated captioning, summarization)
- Familiarity with SageMaker or other ML pipelines
- Experience in federal or DoD environments
- Ability to obtain Public Trust clearance
